As the man in the mirror, getting matters off his chest and trying to make amends in the here and now, Mats Westbroek lifts his new track ‘Old Life’ from the doldrums. The Netherlands producer takes the hand of sassy sax repurposing 80s chic (just like on ‘Clear Skies Ahead’), and pianos telling you to look to the future. A smooth ride with a strong synth foundation and clear in its direction despite the doubting lyrics, it follows the Westbroek way of easygoing clubbing with just the right amount of emotional significance.

BURNR – Grand Tech Auto [Be Yourself Music]
Windows down, sunglasses on, radio on full blast and the city’s streets in his sights: getting heavy on the treble like a reactivated ringtone, BURNR and his G-funk frequencies unveil a gangster groove styling out a bouncy house cut. It’s an interesting departure from his previous dancefloor business: stripped down in large parts, Mariachi-style horns welcome BURNR as he pulls up to a glamorous spot along the highway, and the frantic breakdown imitates a rush of admirers wanting the man’s autograph. Throw it on and show ‘em who’s boss.
