Once again turning titles on their head, Timothy Allen follows the teeth-gritting tech house of ‘Hold Me’ by substituting suggested bliss for another battle for arena supremacy not leaving you a moment’s rest. ‘Take Me Away’ is combative to say the least, assigning diva vocals to address a collision of bass splurges, Dutch house energy, scrambling synth licks, state of emergency sirens, epic 8-bit melodies, and a half-pace segment where heat-seeking machinery marauds through the door. You can run, but you can’t hide – and why on earth would you want to?
Marvin Sykes – Hit with an Impact (feat. Shayee) [artwrk]
Enforced by the vocals of Shayee, who’ll blow you kisses while eyeing up speakers with a baseball bat, Marvin Sykes is bang on target with the sort of heavy duty tech house that has pierced the sets of Benny Benassi, Mark Knight and Shift K3Y. ‘Impact’ skids and slides across the club and causes carnage, turning up a juddering bassline and releasing slashing synths that rain down like killer confetti. Naturally the breakdown becomes a high-pressure situation, and you’ll love Sykes’ rough-rugged approach hitting you straight between the ears.
